The Moama & Melbourne 3 Man Paintball Tournament Series Australia - 2011

About the M3M

What is Paintball?

Competition paintball is a team-based sport, where the object is to eliminate all of the opposing players by "marking" them with paint and hanging a flag at your opponents' end of the field.

Different competitions are available for differing team sizes (ie: 5-Man, 7-Man and even 10-Man teams). M3M events are (obviously) 3-person per team events. Substitute player(s) are permitted for each team, though only 3 may take the field in any game.

Games are played on a flat, (artificial or natural) grassed field measuring 40m long by 20m wide. Inflatable "bunkers" are placed in different formations at each event to provide cover.
Each game is provided a 3 minute time limit. One team must take the centre flag to their opponents' station within the 3 minutes, otherwise the game is ruled a draw.

About the M3M

Since it's first season in 2004, the Moama 3 Man quickly became the most popular 3-Man event in Australia. The M3M's popularity is due to the great facilities available at it's Moama venue, the low entry fees, great prizes and its overall emphasis on having fun!
The M3M has also proven to be an extremely good way for new players to enter the sport, through its fantastic divisional structure. Lower divisions provide a great introduction for teams with no tournament experience or even paintball experience!

To keep entry fees to a minimum, participating players are asked to also help referee. This encourages players to learn the rules and get a better understanding of how the game works, whilst always having experienced referees on hand to make sure games are officiated correctly.

The on-site Pro Paintball Shop caters for all players' needs at the venue. The store stocks all the gear and equipment a paintball player will need, plus a range of paintballs are for sale.

All M3M events are No BYO paint events. All paint used at an M3M event must be bought on site. Trophies and prizes are given away at each event, as well as to season winners at the end of the year. Prizes are donated by some of the M3M's great sponsors (see our Sponsor Page for more info).

The History of the M3M

The "Pro Paintball Shop 3 Man Series" got it's start in 2004, hosting 4 events over the course of the year. Each event attracted an average of 8 to 10 teams from around Victoria and NSW, all playing in one Open Division. 2005 saw the event expand to 6 rounds, as teams from as far away as Adelaide began to attend, but it wasn't until 2007 that the series, renamed the Moama 3 Man, really caught fire. Round 1 of the 2007 season saw a huge spike in team numbers, as multiple teams from SA, VIC, NSW and ACT made their way to the event. In 2008, the M3M averaged over 27 teams at each round, spread across 4 divisions!

Over a dozen new teams played their first tournaments in both 2007 and 2008, with many rising the ranks to play Div1 and even Open in as early as 2009. The 2009 season also saw some great one-off 5-Man and 7-Man events, which gave the M3M regulars a taste of larger fields and more intense action.

After taking the 2010 season off to recharge, the M3M relaunched in 2011 with a 3 round season that saw many old faces and new faces converge on Moama once again.
